RAY VISION
Every Chicago Public Schools student in every neighborhood
will be engaged in a rigorous, well-rounded program and will
graduate prepared for success in college, career and life.
RAY MISSION
The mission of Ray School is to provide a rich academic
experience for our culturally, racially, and socio-economically
diverse student body. Teachers and staff work collaboratively with parents to instill in our students a life-long love of learning.
FROM THE RAY PTO: LOOKING FOR ROOM PARENTS!
Hello Ray Parents and Guardians:
Ray PTO would like to help facilitate the set up of enrichment/support pods for families during this period of remote learning (and perhaps beyond!). Participation in the pod is completely voluntary.
In order to do this, it would be helpful to work with a room parent in each classroom. If you would be willing to serve as a room parent this year, please reach out to your classroom teacher. The commitment of serving as a room parent would involve helping to facilitate communication among families in your child's class to share ideas and support each other during remote learning and possibly beyond. We imagine that the support will look different depending on the ages and interests of the children in the participating families. Once we are back in school, room parents could also help with identifying chaperones for field trips, if any are needed.
Thank you!

Welcome to Middle School
It is my pleasure to welcome students and families to the 2020-21 school year at Ray. As we start off remotely, we are dedicated to providing students with as rich and complete experience as possible with the hope that we will be able to return to in-person learning soon.
Google Classrooms may or may not be up and running for Tuesday. To be safe, students will be sent a Google Meet link to attend class on Tuesday. Look for that email on Monday night.
I will be teaching both 7th and 8th graders a class with a multidisciplinary approach supporting their academic and social-emotional growth.
Through reading, writing, discussions, and projects, 7th graders will explore the world and the ways in which they participate in it,
8th graders will dive into the history of our nation with a focus on the present and how we got where we are today. They will also explore concepts in economics and financial literacy.
Both groups will develop strategies to tackle the academic, social, emotional, and physical challenges of the present and their immediate future.
This is a critical time in our world. I look forward to helping our students navigate it and position them in it to make positive change.
Sincerely,
Janak Paranjape
